We went out on Thursday night so we were all a bit tired on our last day, so we decided it was going to be a relaxing day before going to the airport. We went to the beach for a bit and then tried to find a nice place to have lunch. We walked in the little streets close by and discovered this great catalan restaurant. I got some croquetas, and Cuban rice with plantains, and my friends got some chicken and rabbit paella.

When we arrived at the top, we had a little walk to the Olympic Parc, which was very impressive. I really liked it as it had a lot of similarities with the Greek architecture, where the Olympic games came from. On our fourth day here, we walked to the port to get the cable car up to the Olympic Parc (Barcelona held the Olympics in 1992). We stopped for lunch and finally had some churros! (One of the best food invented)
Here are a few of their super interesting products on show. Their temporary exhibition was the most relevant to our course as it was all about user centred design and design for real life. Shaker Sharks, Shake your power: create energy with music Hovding, airbag for cyclists. This morning we went to visit the new Design Museum. We ended up spending nearly the whole day in it! Their permanent exhibition was very interesting, with a room about some of the most important design products and furniture that have become part of our daily lives, and another room about the evolution of fashion from the 1500s to today. Chineasy, fun Chinese learning book After spending a long time in the museum, we went to have some lunch and wonder around the market nearby. UrbMat, UrbnEarth We ended the day by going to the beach again, and having tapas for dinner.
Sagrada Familia Parc Guell in the sunshine, pine trees and palm trees. La Rambla and la Boqueria market Today was by far the busiest day of the week. We visited the Sagrada Familia in the morning, then we went to walk at Parc Guell, and finished by wondering around la Rambla and la Boqueria market. You can pay 8 euros to get entry into part of the parc but we thought we'd save money and walk around the free area, where we still had an amazing view of Barcelona and the seafront! In la Boqueria, situated just off la Rambla, you will find many fruit stalls, fish and meat counters, and many more catalan delicacies. We found ourselves hesitating about which juice stall to go for as there were so many and all of them had so many different juice choices! Feeling a little hungry still, we ventured further in and found an olive counter where we bought a little pot of mixed olives which tasted so good. This was one of the best days I had in Barcelona, a lot of walking but worth it!
My university organised a trip to Barcelona and here I am finally! We are here fore 5 days, to look at the design and architecture in Barcelona, but also to enjoy the catalan culture. As soon as we landed and dropped our stuff at the hostel, we headed straight to the beach at la Barceloneta! We decided to go and adventure a bit in the little streets nearby, and we found a lovely seaside shop which sold bracelets, necklaces, and lots of beach stuff... I bought a blue necklace, which will look really nice when I'll be a little more tanned this Summer.
